About SadaPay

SadaPay is transforming financial services in Pakistan with a digital-first experience that makes managing money simple, transparent, and hassle-free. With over three-quarters of the population still unbanked, we believe financial services need a radical shift. With SadaPay, all you need is a CNIC, a phone number, and a smartphone to get started; no paperwork, no long waits. Our 3 million+ users have left behind their worst banking frustrations, no hidden fees, free local transfers, and a payment experience that’s actually enjoyable. Pair that with friendly customer service and a vibrant debit card, and suddenly, finance doesn’t just work; it feels fun! 🚀

Why is this role important?

Every rupee that moves through SadaPay leaves a trail in more than one place: our own ledger, the card processor’s files, the interbank switch’s settlement reports, the central bank’s instant-payment rail. The data platform is where those trails meet. It is how we prove the books balance, how finance closes the month, how risk sees a pattern before it becomes a loss, and how the rest of the company answers questions about customers without anyone touching production. When a partner file arrives late, changes format without notice, or disagrees with our ledger by one transaction, it’s the data platform that notices first. A pipeline that fails quietly doesn’t show up on a dashboard. It shows up weeks later as a reconciliation gap somebody has to explain. This role owns that platform end to end: the ingestion from our services and our partners, the warehouse models built on top, and the reconciliation and reporting that finance, risk, and operations depend on every day. It’s a small team with a wide surface, so you’ll carry real ownership from your first month.

‍As a Sadanaut you will:

Own the data platform

  • Run and extend our event-driven pipeline platform: configuration-defined pipelines deployed on AWS serverless and container compute, fed by Kafka, S3, schedules, and events.
  • Keep dozens of production pipelines healthy, and make sure every one of them fails loudly when it fails.
  • Pay down what’s accumulated: retire dead pipelines, consolidate duplicates, and document the ones that stay.

Move data in and out of partners, correctly

  • Ingest settlement, transaction, and status files from card, switch, and payment-rail partners, and send the files they need from us over SFTP and APIs.
  • Treat each partner file format as a contract: validate it on arrival, and catch schema drift, late files, and missing files before anyone downstream relies on them.

Make reconciliation trustworthy

  • Build and own the reconciliation between our ledger and our partners’ records: matched, unmatched, returned, and declined, surfaced to the teams who act on them.
  • Build replay and backfill tooling so a bad day can be corrected without hand-editing data.

Model the warehouse

  • Build and maintain warehouse models in dbt on top of our lakehouse, working with our analytics engineer on what the business needs.
  • Own freshness, testing, and cost: tests on every model that matters, clear lineage, and queries that don’t get slower as volume grows.

Protect sensitive data

  • Keep personal and financial data separated, access-controlled, and auditable across the platform.
  • Build within our data-residency and regulatory constraints, and be ready to show an auditor how data moves, who can see it, and why.

What it takes to become a Sadanaut:

The Foundation Weʼre Looking For

  • 3+ years building and running production data pipelines, not only writing queries against them.
  • Strong Python and strong SQL. You can write the transformation, and you can also find the reason it’s slow.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS data services: S3, serverless and container compute, data catalogue, and a cloud warehouse such as Redshift.
  • Experience consuming from and producing to Kafka or another event stream.
  • Experience with dbt or an equivalent modelling layer, including tests and documentation.
  • An instinct for correctness: idempotent jobs, safe reruns, and the ability to explain exactly how a number was produced.
  • Real daily use of AI tools in your work. Writing and reviewing pipeline code, tracing a failure through logs, explaining an unfamiliar model:you should be able to walk us through a workflow you genuinely use, not a demo you tried once.

Stronger Candidates Will Also Have

  • Financial reconciliation experience: settlement files, matching logic, and chasing breaks to the root cause.
  • Experience exchanging files with external partners over SFTP, with the operational discipline that requires.
  • Infrastructure as code (Terraform or equivalent) and CI/CD for data workloads.
  • Lakehouse formats and table maintenance: Parquet, partitioning, compaction.
  • Observability for data: freshness and volume alerts, lineage, and failure tracing.

Good to Have

  • Experience with BI tooling such as Tableau
  • Handling of PII and regulated financial data, including masking, tokenisation, and access control.
  • Prior work in fintech, payments, or another regulated, high-trust domain.

The Mindset Weʼre Looking For

You’re a builder, not a job-seeker. You’d rather a pipeline stop than let it load wrong data, and you can’t leave a number alone until you know where it came from. You write things down, because the next person to debug your pipeline might be you at 2am. You’re comfortable owning a wide platform on a small team, working directly with finance, risk, and product, and deciding what’s worth fixing first.
